At Campus Cabana, our top priority is the safety of our members, guests, and staff. To ensure everyone’s safety during inclement weather, we have established the following guidelines for pool operations:

  1. Visibility Rule: If rain is heavy enough to prevent the bottom of the pool from being visible, we will clear the pool until conditions improve.
  2. Official Weather App: We use the Weather Channel App to monitor real-time weather conditions and make informed decisions about pool operations. We encourage our members to download the app on their iPhone or Android devices for convenience and safety.
  3. Incoming Storm Announcements: When the Weather Channel App reports lightning strikes within a 5-mile radius of Campus Cabana, our pool manager will announce the impending storm to all present.
  4. Grounds Clearance: If the Weather Channel App identifies lightning within a 3-mile radius of Campus Cabana, we will clear the grounds, regardless of whether lightning is visible. All members and guests will be required to leave the premises for everyone’s safety.
  5. Staff Safety Measures: Our DRD staff will evacuate the pool grounds after ensuring all members and guests have safely departed. Staff will return to evaluate the grounds for safety conditions thirty minutes after the last observed lightning strike before allowing members to reenter.
  6. Reopening: We aim to reopen the grounds once the storm has passed and the radar indicates the system has moved away from our location. However, storm damage, such as extensive debris or large fallen tree branches, may necessitate a delay in reopening. The pool management team from DRD will determine when the grounds are safe and ready for use.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation with these rules designed to keep everyone safe. If you have any questions about our weather policy, please don’t hesitate to contact us at board@campuscabana.com.
